OLA electric scooter’s first look has been revealed and it is stunningly stylish and classy. Ola Cabs (OLΛ) Bengaluru-based ride-sharing company offering services that include a vehicle for hire ranging from economic to luxury travel, and food delivery is now foraying into electric scooter manufacturing. OLA plans to hit the market with its first vehicle in October 2021, sources said. The electric scooter, initially manufactured at a facility in the Netherlands, will be sold in India as well as Europe.
To meet the local demand more efficiently and participate in the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. The 500-acre mega factory is being made in Krishnagiri in the state of Tamil Nadu and this new facility will not only cater to the demand in India but will act as an export hub for Ola Electric as well.
With the new plant, Ola Electric will be exporting electric scooters to some global markets like Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
The upcoming state-of-the-art facility will have an annual capacity of 10 million units and will start operations in the year 2022. The company has now revealed its upcoming electric scooter for India.
The pictures show that the upcoming Ola’s first-ever electric scooter will have its styling very similar to that of the Etergo Appscooter.
Ola’s factory site will sport more than 3,000 robots working alongside 10,000 workers. Software built by its 1,000-member team – mostly engineers.
To keep costs in check, Ola is designing, engineering, and manufacturing its own battery pack, motor, vehicle computer, and software. Like Tesla, it wants to keep costs down by building its own power cells. It’s testing charging solutions and battery-swapping stations.
Bhavish Aggarwal cofounder of OLA who was a graduate of the elite Indian Institute of Technology said he designed the automated storage, retrieval, and delivery system for the electric scooters and won a patent for it.
The pricing and availability details of the Ola Electric Scooter in India will be revealed at the launch event in the coming weeks. However, it will reportedly cost less than Rs. 1 lakh and will go against rivals like Bajaj Chetak and Ather 450X.
