SriRama Navami is celebrated across Indian on the ninth day of Chaitra Masa (The first month of Hindu year) according to the lunar calendar, on the occasion of Lord Rama’s Birthday. Different regions of India celebrate this festival in different ways.

Lord Rama born on the 9th day after Amavasya or no moon day, which falls in Chaitra masa, Shukla paksha every year in accordance with the Hindu Calendar. As the epic Ramayana suffuses the victory of Good over evil to the world. Even winning of Virtue takes more time, but the hard work and dedication towards it will take them to the paths of success.

SriRama Navami Celebrations in Different Regions

People across India celebrate Rama Navami in different ways. In The North region of India people celebrates Srirama Navami through Bhajans, Keertanas, aarati, and other poojas in temples. After the completion of pooja, the devotees offered with ‘Prasad’ (holy offering of God) distribution.

The glorious festival ends up with Cradle Seva, in which the Idols of Rama & Sita kept in decorative cradles and worshipped. These all rituals followed similarly in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa and etc,.

In Ayodhya Rama Mandir a holy shower will perform in the Sarayu River. Enormous devotees take a dip in the river afterward The Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, and Lord Hanuman took a dip in that river. Rath Yatra will be followed with chanting of ‘Ram”.

While it’s considered in southern regions of India, along with bhajans, Keerthanas, aarati, and Kalyana Mahotsav or their marriage rituals will take place. Especially in Bhadrachalam, Telangana, and Ontimitta, Andhra Pradesh the Seetha Rama Kalyanam celebrates in the presence of huge devotees chants of ‘Jai Sri Ram”.

These Marriage rituals will be conducted in the temples across South India.

SriRama Navami: Special Prasad “Panakam”

A special holy offering of God in the Srirama Navami festival is “Panakam”. This is Prepared with a mixing of jaggery powder, pepper powder in water. The sweet drink works as a hydrating fluid as people sat, chant, and pray to God outside of the temple.

LORD RAMA – The Ideal Human

Lord Rama is the 7th incarnation of Maha Vishnu. And people say Rama’s incarnation is the symbol of a perfect and unique human being and King on the earth. Because:

As the Covid-19 pandemic still applicable in India the SriRama Navami 2021 celebrations are restricted by the Indian Government. So people celebrate in their homes and watching the rituals in the temples through digital/ electronic media.
